”At a time of diamond market uncertainty, fuelled by growing white diamond inventory and the emergence of lab grown diamonds, most categories of Fancy Colour diamonds are showing continued pricing stability, with the Pink segment posting slight price increases.”

What is the fancy coloured diamond index?

The Fancy Colour Diamond Index is published by the non-profit Fancy Colour Research Foundation (FCRF), tracking pricing data for yellow, pink, and blue fancy colour diamonds in three key global trading centres – Hong Kong, New York, and Tel Aviv.

What Does this mean?

In summary and as indicated by the below diagram, the coloured diamond market continues to perform well. Whilst the fancy pink and fancy yellow categories experienced challenges consistently over the previous four quarters, these were offset against the exceptional performance in the prior twelve months. With the exception of the first quarter, the fancy blue achieved month on month increases against the previous 12 months, resulting in an overall positive 12 months for the primary fancy coloured diamond market.
